So I’ve started a new category in this blog. I’m moving out of Milwaukee very shortly and I felt like sharing my journey with you all..

I have a lot of big dreams. All of these dreams revolving around music and fashion. I have done and learned a lot here in Milwaukee, but my time has come to try a new approach.  When you are truly passionate about something, you have to keep trying, you should never settle for less than greatness and most importantly never give up. There is no failure, just lessons to learn and I learned all I can from this town.. Things lined up pretty out of the blue for my move. I got offered a pretty bad ass job in Madison and going out there a few times recently, it completely reminds me of Seattle, which is my favorite city ever..

Anyone that knows me knows of my passion for metal, and this might offend some, but I was very impressed with the metal crowd there. Very welcoming to new comers and it was great to see when the bands were playing people actually went up to the stage and watched them instead of standing in the corner, arms crossed talking shit. People seem to actually be there for the music itself and not just to be seen.. Sadly many of the recent shows I’ve been to in Milwaukee, it seems people just go to hang out with their cliques and walk around to make sure people see them there, not to actually enjoy the bands.

I’ve also heard there is a really cool independent fashion design scene there too, which is obviously very important to me.. I will be doing a lot more in the coming months..

I figured I’d start out with a roommate situation, it would be easier to find my own place when I’m already there, it’s been quite a challenge so far. Unfortunately people everywhere are judgmental in general, you can’t escape this. Because I’m  37 year old metalhead, I’m having issues with people not looking past what they don’t understand. Crazy thing is from my experience, metalheads are some of the nicest people around, but people always fear what they don’t understand. They will just write you off without getting to know you. It’s not discouraging me though, I try to be an optimist and I’m sure the right place will just fall into my lap soon enough..

My things are pretty much all packed. Can’t wait to get out there and start my new life.. More updates to come.. Horns High Metalheads and never be afraid to follow your dreams, no matter how bumpy the path becomes!

“Read me, decipher every word
Then multiply the dormant issues
Just tear me down, then build me up again
Accentuate, proliferate, recreate”

One of my favorite bands!! Make sure you check out their new album WINTER THRICE!

Music, metal specifically has always been my number one inspiration. For me, the mark of a true musician is not the ability to play an instrument or read the notes on a page, but to do one of two things; allow you to immerse yourself in an emotion or give you an escape. I know this may sound contradictory, but as human beings, both things are a necessity.

Even as a child I would hear a song and it would evoke such strong imagery I would have these crazed dreams. When you wake up though, you always feel different, usually you have more clarity.

Haven’t  you heard a song and pictured someone being stuck in some grim cold place with no way out or being chased by a crazed homicidal maniac?

Or perhaps you’ve been depressed and popped on a cd and just cried your eyes out and felt leaps and bounds better after words.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, waay too much on the brain. Metal evokes so much imagry and emotion, it’s the one thing that always helps get me through. So when people ask me why I listen to metal, this is your answer. forgive me for sounding cheesy, but metal is the soundrack of my soul..

Here are some examples of songs that have provided either a much needed emotional release or an escape from reality..
